May 17 - There will be no EAA chapter 268 meeting this Thursday.  Instead we will be hosting our annual Spring Fly-In at the Calhoun airport on Saturday May 19th.

 

May 19 - We will be hosting our annual Spring Fly-In at the Calhoun airport on Saturday May 19th. Young Eagle flights begin at 9am and hamburger and hotdogs will be served beginning at 11:30am. We still need help with Young Eagles and with lunch. Please let me know if you are planning on coming and are willing to help. For Young Eagles we need both pilots and ground crew. We also would like anyone with an airplane to bring out for display on the ramp. The weather looks to be good for Saturday, so I hope that we'll have a good crowd. This is a fund raiser for our hangar fund, so please come and help make it a successful event.

2012 Past Meetings and Events

 

April 19 - Jon Hansen Hanger, Cobb County Airport (RYY) from 7:00 - 9:00 PM - Well it's time again for our monthly meeting this coming Thursday (4/19/12) and I am sending this message out as a reminder and to give you all a homework assignment. What, a homework assignment, what kind of meeting are we having?? Actually it is very easy and many of you probably have already completed it. Please read the cover story in this month's EAA Sport Aviation magazine covering the DC-7 pictured on the cover. One of our own has actually flow this aircraft and will be sharing information of some of the DC-7 unique characteristics and features. Come prepared with any and all questions that you might have. I'll let you figure out which chapter member has flown this particular DC-7. Who could it be? This should be a really interesting and educational meeting, so make sure you attend. Jon Hansen's hanger at KRYY at 7:00pm.

 

March 15 - The monthly meeting was held at Jon Hansen Hanger. We had an interesting speaker this month, Mike King. You might say that Mike was one of the early light sport or recreational category pilots. Back in the "60s, the US government gave him a little Cessna 170 with half the seats removed and nice sight-seeing windows added so he could do some recreational and sight-seeing flights around Southeast Asia.

 

February 16 - The monthly meeting was held at Jon Hansen's hanger.  Mike McElheny gave an informal presentation on aircraft ignition systems, focusing on magneto based systems and common problems.

 

January 26 - Our annual January dinner meeting date was held January 26th 2012 at  Bay Breeze Seafood 2418 Canton Road Marietta, GA 30066 (770) 485-9916. Bill did a great job with his presentation and everone had a good time.
