NEWSLETTER OF EAA CHAPTER 268, MARIETTA GEORGIA

MAR 2003                                                                                                  JOIN EAA

THE PREZ SEZ:

I'm just back from this year's version of Sun 'n Fun.  The new Wednesday through Tuesday format seems to work just fine, helping to reduce the first day crowds and spread them over the rest of the week.  The best parts of my trip were running into several of our chapter members (Many thanks to Scott Barland for helping me tie down the RV on arrival), plus seeing a number of people I know from the RV community and other outposts in the sport aviation community.  One new thing for me was the night airshow.  It was spectacular.  With the poor weather in South Georgia over the last 4 days of SnF, I was lucky to pick a good weather window for my return.  As they say, it is better to be lucky than good!

On the EAA 268 calendar, our next meeting is 7:00 PM on April 17 at the Hansen Aero hangar at McCollum.  Beyond that, we have a "service day" planned for Saturday, April 26.  Please go ahead and plan on helping out

that morning.  We're going to meet at Hansen Aero first thing, and have three different projects we need to complete.  The first one is to keep up our "Adopt a Mile" area near McCollum.  The second will be a general clean and repair effort around the Hansen hangar.  The third effort will be to rebuild several of our folding tables, which are in dire need of new tops. I imagine there will be plenty of work to keep quite a few people busy Saturday morning, but it would be nice if the group was able to go to lunch together after our airport chores are finished.

Another upcoming event I want to plug is Wings Weekend, which is a 3 day Friday, May 2, and consists of seminars for pilots and spouses, plus dinners, free flight instruction, and a number of other activities.  If

you'd like to participate, you can go through their website: www.wingsweekend.com, their e-mail:  info@wingsweekend.com, or you can call Sue Adams directly at 770 613-9501.  You must pre-register to receive all of the perks (i.e. door prizes) and dinners.   Our Chuckwagon will be there on Saturday (for lunch, I believe).

Something we touched on late last year was the issue of chapter owned tools.  If you are interested in this subject, I would like to take the time at the next meeting (4/17) to talk about this idea in some detail.

Also, if you have a show and tell item you'd like to bring to the meeting, touch base with me either before or at the meeting and we'll make a point of reserving time to look and listen...
